<![CDATA[Freddie Segro - Cinematographer | Light Painter | Post Craftsman - Blog]]>Wed, 29 Jan 2025 08:55:47 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[CUPCAKES!]]>Wed, 03 Jul 2019 13:46:54 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/cupcakesIt's amazing what you can get done in one day with a small crew. Of course, we all love having more help and more time on projects. It gets stressful when you're squeezing what could be two shoot days into one. This one in particular was in Manhattan (which in a thing in itself dealing with more than one location), two location moves and two companies involved. I think we walked away feeling rather satisfied with the amount we captured. Lotus Pictures produced and edited this piece. The little motion graphic touches add a lot of character to it. We used one Sony FS5 mk2 and a Sony a7s mk1.

<![CDATA[Zack's Taco Shack Rail Jam 2019]]>Wed, 15 May 2019 15:23:22 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/zacks-taco-shack-rail-jam-2019Zack at Zack's Taco Shack was kind enough to let me come film for fun at Camelback Mountains rail jam sponsored by he and PBR. It was a just for fun project and couldn't spend much time on the edit. Without being able to get too close and not knowing which rail they were going to hit, capturing cinematic shots was near impossible. I hope to get the opportunity to shoot snowboarding again with complete control . We'll see how close to Art of Flight I can get. Haha. Here's a little ditty of the day.

<![CDATA[Sony FS5 Mark 2]]>Sat, 21 Jul 2018 20:54:04 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/sony-fs5-mark-2Took my fresh Sony FS5 Mark 2 to Cherry Valley Festival to test the new color science. Also just to see what it's like to run around with a stabalized lens and no shoulder rig. Internal recording to SD Card XAVC 24p HD 50MB. Set to Picture Profile 1 with the only adjustment being the Detail is set to -5 instead of 0. Also I have a Tiffen Circular Polarizer on the Canon 24-105mm f/4 lens. Metabones speed booster used. No post production work done what so ever. Now for them to release a LUT to achieve this from S-Log3.Cine.

<![CDATA[GenYOUth and Land O' Lakes]]>Wed, 14 Feb 2018 19:46:08 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/genyouth-and-land-o-lakesOver the summer I was part of a huge production on a Land O' Lakes dairy farm in Minnesota. There were multiple deliverables but for the most part we were creating commercial content for the Land O' Lakes Farm Bowl and social content for Land O' Lakes partnership with GenYOUth. I had a few different roles depending on the days. On the days I wasn't MoVI and Camera Operating for the commercial content with three RED Helium 8K's (big smiles), I was shooting BTS and content for the GenYOUth piece. This is one of the videos they released that is content from a mix of all three of my roles throughout the week. The social media and BTS content was filmed with the Sony FS7.

<![CDATA[CBS Eye on the Community - Students Run Philly Style and Target]]>Fri, 19 Jan 2018 15:30:10 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/cbs-eye-on-the-community-students-run-philly-style-and-targetParralux brought me on to shoot this little community involvement piece for Students Run Philly Style back in November 2017. Huge wrench thrown into the interview filming when the school we shot at informed us that the children would be coming outside for the gym and lunch periods (which we were told wasn't happening). Such is production life! Those who can adapt, survive.

<![CDATA[At long last...]]>Mon, 31 Jul 2017 19:38:20 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/at-long-lastOver two years ago I was hired by Yamaha to shoot a BTS video of pianist Eric Worthams Yamaha All-Access photoshoot. I thought it was going to be another dead project that never sees the light of day. I was going through the raw footage to pull some selects for my reel and decided it was worth Googling it again. And what do you know?! There it is having just been posted a week ago. I really wish I could have done the post on this as I had a vision of how it would be color graded and a smoother edit flow. Whatcha gonna do? I'm just glad it has been released.

<![CDATA[I love shooting for post compositing]]>Wed, 21 Jun 2017 14:24:08 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/i-love-shooting-for-post-compositingHere is an episode of SAP TVs "The Spin" with Meagan Meany I DP'd and shot the host content for about a month ago. Having to frame and set design with post graphics being incorporated was an enjoyable touch. I don't get to do as much compositing work as I used to. I miss the more complex productions....

<![CDATA[And it's actually relevant]]>Wed, 26 Apr 2017 18:29:10 GMThttp://freddiesegro.com/blog/and-its-actually-relevantA couple months back I was brought in to DP and camera op on a series of product demo videos for #Nuna. It was shot on #RED in a studio on white cyc and custom made stands and boxes. I rarely get to work in studio so it was a nice change to have every aspect of the shoot under my control.
